Here at Innovo Detox, while we are proud of the comfortable environment and amenities that patients receive and enjoy while going through detox and treatment, it is the quality of our staff and the care they deliver to patients that makes us the proudest.
Today, we want to highlight Matt Kern, who recently joined the Innovo Detox clinical team as a counselor. Matt joins a clinical team that includes Clinical Supervisor Denise Connelly and clinical counselor Arlene Allison, as well as the three other clinical professionals we have on staff, Executive Director Molly Ashcroft, Director of Support Services Kevin MacNeil, and Director of Admissions Debby MacNeil.
We are incredibly excited to have Matt join the Innovo Detox team. Even as a small, stand-alone detox facility, Matt’s addition gives Innovo Detox a total of six clinical professionals to offer care and support for our patients. This ability of have 7-days-per week clinical coverage ensures patients receive the necessary clinical therapy, counseling, and support needed as they go through detox and start their journey of addiction treatment and recovery.
Matt’s background is varied. He spent close to 16 years as a youth minister working with adolescents, young adults, and their family members that were struggling. After switching over to the behavioral health field, Matt has worked for the past 6 year in a variety of therapeutic environments, including family counseling, multi-systemic outpatient mental health treatment, substance use disorder treatment, and crisis intervention.
Before becoming a counselor on the Innovo Detox clinical team, Matt spent time as a family consultant and therapeutic integration technician, a multisystemic therapist, a drug and alcohol therapist, a crisis intervention counselor, and most recently, an outpatient mental health therapist. Previously he spent time on the clinical teams as organizations in Pennsylvania that included Celebrate Ability, Adelphoi Village, True North Wellness, and Wellspan Gettysburg Hospital. A graduate of Liberty University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology/Christian Counseling followed by a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University, Matt’s array of professional and ministry experience and will allow him the ability to connect with Innovo Detox patients from a variety of areas, and help guide them on a path of overcoming their addiction and finding sobriety.
Asked about his passion for helping others, Matt said, “Helping people feel heard, being present with them, and encouraging positive change are several reasons of what I love about what I do and what I love about connecting with people. I count myself honored to be a part of any step of their recovery or healing process.”
