Detox for drugs and alcohol is typically the first step to someone’s journey of treatment and, hopefully, long-term recovery. Entering detox is the first step, to be seen and cared for by excellent medical professionals and begin the clinical treatment process under the watchful eye of expert therapists and counselors. However, here at Innovo Detox, we are under no delusion that just stopping active addiction and getting off drugs and alcohol with a medically managed withdrawal and detox process is the end all, be all of sobriety. A detox can help get you sober, but it will not necessarily help you find long-term recovery.

Therefore, we know that having a comprehensive aftercare plan for long-term treatment and recovery support is vital for every patient that leaves Innovo Detox on the next step of their treatment and recovery journey. Which is why we are excited to announce that Michael Kessler has stepped into the new role of Director of Continuing Care.

Mike has been with Innovo Detox since we opened our doors in early March 2020. As the Continuing Care Coordinator, Mike single-handedly worked in conjunction with our clinical team to set up discharge planning and aftercare support for each and every patient. Once patients were through their detox and medical stabilization, Mike would make sure that their aftercare plans best supported them in the hopes of long-term treatment and recovery. This often included working with the internal Innovo Detox medical and clinical team, professional referral sources, family members, employers, and treatment providers and professionals that would then be accepting patients into their next level of care in the treatment continuum.

Stepping into his new role of Director of Continuing Care, Mike will join the Innovo Detox management team and oversee the Innovo Detox continuing care department. With this additional oversight and management, Mike will be able to better serve all patients to ensure once they have completed their detox and addiction treatment at Innovo Detox, they are moving forward with a comprehensive aftercare plan to best set them up for success, long-term recovery, and a high quality of life.

All Innovo Detox patients are given satisfaction surveys once they end treatment and are followed up with post-treatment to check on their progress. Professional referral sources, both those referring into detox and treatment and those receiving patients once they are leaving detox and treatment, also are asked regularly for feedback regarding that process. Consistently, Mike has been praised by patients, family members, and addiction treatment and mental health professionals for his ability to communicate, collaborate, and continually find best options for patients to continue to receive high-quality healthcare and recovery services that meets their needs. Now, Mike will be overseeing a continuing care department to continue that legacy of high quality care and services.

“I would like to absolutely congratulate Mike Kessler on his new position as Director of Continuing Care,” said Innovo Detox Executive Director Molly Ashcroft, CADC. “Mike has always exhibited the principles of our organization, including trust, service, high quality care, and putting patients first. Mike and the Innovo Detox leadership team are very excited to be able to support our patients, families, and referents in a more robust way with Mike stepping into the position of Director of Continuing Care.”
