2022-04-26T20:59:55-04:00July 14, 2021|Detox|

For almost anyone suffering from substance use disorder or addiction, some level of addiction treatment is always important, and a detox to help with withdrawal management and medical stabilization is always vital. However, we also know that those suffering from addiction can always create excuses as to why they can’t go to treatment immediately. Talk to someone suffering from addiction and they almost always admit that they need help and want to stop using drugs and alcohol; to overcome their addiction and seek recovery; to find health and healing. However, tell them that they are suffering from a potentially fatal illness and to come to treatment immediately, and they will often backpedal, listing off a number of excuses as to [...]

However, the process of detox does not have to be scary, when doing so under the expertise of 24/7 medical staff, well-versed in withdrawal management and medical stabilization. It is also important that the person feels safe and comfortable during the detox process. Eric (whose name has been changed) was a patient at Innovo in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic in mid-2020. Celebrated annually every June, Pride Month is a month-long celebration by the LGBTQ+ community, advocates, and allies. It is celebrated each June as a tribute to those individuals who were involved in the Stonewall Riots (also known as the Stonewall Uprising), a series of spontaneous demonstrations by members of the LGBT community that began on June 28, 1969 in New York City as a response to a police raid at the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village.   Throughout the month of June, LGBTQ+ community members, advocates, and allies will participate in parties, parades, and other celebratory activities. However, Pride Month is also a time for education, for awareness, and to further the fight for LGBTQ+ rights in America. LGBTQ+ members [...]

The Addiction Treatment Continuum of Care

2021-07-02T20:52:07-04:00May 26, 2021|Addiction Recovery|

Just as addiction does not discriminate and impacts all types of people, so addiction treatment must not be a one-size-fits-all model. While there is an ideal continuum of care that starts with the most intensive and supported care and ends with the least amount of treatment and support over a long period of time, to truly help and support suffering from addiction, there needs to be a personalized continuum that specifically supports that individual’s clinical needs, community and social needs, basic life needs, education and career, and overall situation. Here are the different levels of treatment and recovery support in an addiction treatment continuum of care.   DETOX Detox is often the first step for an individual in their treatment [...]

Since 2015, the usage of hallucinogen drugs is on the rise throughout the country. A recent study conducted by the University of Cincinnati found that the use of LSD has risen 56% since 2015. With the disruption of COVID-19 causing mass quarantining and isolation, just as the rates of overall substance use and misuse has risen, so has the use and misuse of hallucinogens. Americans seem to be passing the time by tripping in quarantine. What are Hallucinogens? Hallucinogens are a class of drugs that alter a person’s awareness of their surroundings. These drugs also impact an individual’s thoughts and feelings. Some examples of the effects of hallucinogens are “seeing music”, altered perception of reality, seeing images that aren’t there, [...]
